True Stories - Forgiveness
Handing over my life to Jesus didn't change everything overnight. I still had many years of pain and depression to come. In fact my old wounds still hurt from time to time even now, but now I know that whatever happens during my life Jesus is with me loving me and accepting me and I can look forward to an eternity of his overwhelming love. Jesus died to take the punishment for the wrong that I have done, but he did so as much for the man who ruined my childhood as he did for me. He loves him just as much and if he were to become sorry and ask forgiveness God would forgive him and accept him back with open arms.
Thanks to the changes that God has made in my heart, instead of wanting revenge and instead of hating I can now say that I do not want that man to get what he deserves. With Gods help I have forgiven him and in doing so have found the only way to heal the knot of bitterness and pain in my heart. Jesus died to take the punishment for your wrongs as much as he did for mine or my abuser's. Nothing is too bad for him to forgive. He wants to forgive you because he loves you regardless of what you have done or what has been done to you. Jesus said, 'God loved you and me so much that he gave his only son, so that whoever believes in him shall not die but have eternal life. God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through him'. John chapter 3 - the Bible.
